The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), a federal internet subsidy program that began in 2021, will be expiring at the end of the month. This program provides internet discounts of $30 per month to low-income households, and when it expires, many Fort Collins residents could lose access to their current affordable broadband plans.
An affordable local alternative is available through Fort Collins Connexion, the City-owned fiber internet service provider. Since our inception in 2018, Connexion has been committed to ensuring reliable, high-speed internet is accessible to all residents and that cost of service is not a barrier. Our Digital Inclusion Program offers qualified residents 1 Gigabit, fiber internet for $20 per month. This program bridges the digital divide in the community by offering discounted high-speed internet to families who demonstrate financial need and is not impacted by any future changes to the federal ACP subsidy.
