How to Switch Providers to Fort Collins Connexion
Step 1: Check Availability & Select Your Plan
Start by using our address checker to confirm service availability at your location and select your plan. If you’re unsure about which plan suits your needs, take the Gigabit Internet Speed Quiz to get a personalized recommendation. With no long-term contracts, you have the flexibility to choose the plan that works best for your household and upgrade or downgrade at any time.
Step 2: Schedule Installation
After selecting your plan, schedule an installation appointment at your convenience. Unless your residence has had Connexion service previously, our installation process involves two phases:
- Pre-Installation: 7-14 days before your scheduled installation window, utilities locates will be marked on your property using flags and/or water-soluble paint. 3-10 days before your scheduled installation window, our team will run fiber from the street to your home. This process typically takes less than two hours and does not require you to be present.
- In-Home Installation: A technician will pull the fiber from the outside of your home to the inside and install your modem/router ensuring minimal disruption. The technician may crawl through your attic or crawl space to pull the fiber into your home. Please make sure to keep access to these areas clear.
Step 3: Seamless Transition
To avoid service interruptions, we recommend maintaining your current service until Connexion is fully operational. If you’re using equipment from your previous provider, follow their return procedures to prevent additional fees. Post-installation, our support team is ready to assist with setup and optimization, ensuring your new service meets your expectations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will there be any service interruptions during the switch?
To prevent service interruptions, we recommend keeping your existing service active until your new Connexion service is fully operational. This overlap ensures a seamless transition.
Can I use my own equipment?
Internet/Wi-Fi: Our Connexion technician will set up your Optical Network Terminal (ONT) during your installation. This device is your modem and is provided by Connexion at no additional cost. While this ONT is the only modem compatible with our fiber broadband service, you may use your own router for Wi-Fi service if you prefer.
If you have an ethernet router (Netgear, Linksys, Cisco, etc.), there is a good chance it will be compatible with Connexion broadband. Your router’s overall speed and Wi-Fi capabilities will vary, and old equipment may not be capable of taking full advantage of Connexion’s high speed internet. If you would like to utilize your own mesh system for Wi-Fi service, please let the technician know so they can leave your ONT in bridge mode.
TV: Connexion TV can be viewed on any Smart TV using the Connexion TV App. If you don’t have a Smart TV, you can utilize a Connexion TV Set Top Box or another support device. For more info and to view our Supported Devices List, visit our Residential TV Service page.
Telephone: If you sign up for Connexion voice service, you must provide your own landline phone! Any standard landline telephone can be utilized as long as it is VoIP compatible.
How do I transition my email if it's tied to my current provider?
In most cases, you should be able to keep your current email even if it’s associated with your existing provider. If you’d like to setup a new email address with Connexion, we offer guidance on completing this to ensure a smooth transition without losing important communications.
Can I get service if I live in an HOA?
